BIA Names Hall of Fame Inductees

The Binding Industries of America has chosen Richard Senior, Duraweld Ltd., and Vernon Schwent, Silvanus Products, as the 2013 BIA Hall of Fame inductees. The ceremony will take place at the 2013 BIA Annual Conference on April 8-10 in Indianapolis, IN.

T.J. Tedesko, president of Grow Sales, Inc., who considers Senior a long-time friend and business mentor, submitted a letter in support of Senior’s nomination.

"Richard’s long-lasting gifts to Duraweld include market leadership and clear positioning, financial stability in uncertain times and a vibrant new management team led by his daughter Hannah and her husband Mark Yeung," Tedesko wrote. "On this last point, Mark and Hannah are clearly capable of successfully steering Duraweld for decades."

Earl Vogt, retired co-founder and former CEO of Mecom Ltd., supported Schwent’s nomination. The pair worked together for more than a decade at the General Pass Book Company, Ste. Genevieve, MO. Several years later, the company became known as Silvanus Products and Schwent became its vice president.

"Vernon led Silvanus to become one of the top and most respected companies in the industry with products and service that have no equal," Vogt wrote in his nomination.
